Gen. Robert Carter was appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam in July of 2012. Thereafter, Gen. Carter was elected to the position in 2014. Gen. Carter was elected and served as Secretary of the District Attorney General’s Conference in 2019–2020. He then was elected and served as vice president of the Conference in 2020–2021. Gen. Carter served as a member of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Bench & Bar Committee, from 2012–2018. Gen. Carter also served on the Child Support Committee, Finance and Audit Committee, and Opioid/Heroin Committee. Gen. Carter is currently the chairman the Conference’s Justice and Professionalism Committee.
